Fever, Swollen Lip, Headache, Fever. Given Benedryl

My 18 year old daughter has had a fever 99.9 - 100.5 for the past couple of days. Last night her upper lip swelled up. I gave her benedryl . Not sure it helped. Still swollen this morning. Symptoms: headache , fever and fat upper lip. Not sure what to do. Would prefer to stay away from MedPoint and ER as everyone in town seems to have the stomach flu !!

Hi there. Thanks for your question. As you suggest your daughter has a viral illness and this is likely to be self-limiting. The swollen upper lip is an allergic reaction to something, possibly to some medication that she took. This too should settle down in a few days.
