Fracture In Right Leg Bone, Haematoma Below Ankle, Swelling, Redness In Foot And Pale Toe Nails,
Hi about a month ago i suffered a motorcycle accident and fracture a bone in my right leg also i did notice in my foot below the ankle an hematoma thats has already gone. My foot its a little swollen and I just cant move my foot as far as the other one it is a little stiff. Also when I get up the foot starts to get very very red and my toe nails get pale but as soon an I elevate it the redness go away. This redness is whats driving me nuts , do you have an idea of whats going on with my foot Thanks a lot Adrian Rivera
Hello Mr.Adrian Rivera, as per your quiry it seems to look like that you have post traumatic right ankle and foot stiffness. This could be because you had fracture of right leg bone that would be under POP cast if it was a nondisplaced fracture and closed reduction done. So during this immobilisation period you might not have done any ankle toe movements which would lead to stiff ankle and foot. This would lead to reduction in the venous return from that perticular leg/foot. This would in tern could be a cause of accumulation of extra cellular fluid which you see as a swellen ankle and foot.Once you lift this up the accumulated fluid is drained and swelling comes down. Paleness of toe is because the accumulated fluid / extracellular fluid compresses over the arterial blood supply to the toe. so lack of blood supply to the toe leads to pale colouration.
Guess you might have got your answer. Wish you a good health.
