Fractured Ankle. Had Surgery. Intense Pain Shooting Up In The Leg. Is It Normal?
About 10 months ago I broke my ankle bone fractured bones in my foot and shattered (spiral) my leg three inches up from my ankle so I have a metal plate and about 10 screws. Over the last couple months about 2 or so in the morning I wake up with intense pain in my ankle and it shoots up my leg. It seems like its getting worse. It also feels like its bubbling around where my plate is and I can't really flex my leg. I'm not sure what this is or if its a normal thing but I'm about ready to go to the hospital just for the pain alone!! Please help me!
After 10 months of fracture & surgery,it is not normal to have such type of pain at ankle & leg.If you are continuously having pain & abnormal sensations at the fracture site then you should consult to your orthopedic doctor. This problem can be due to lack of union at fracture or due to infection .You may need x ray & blood investigation to rule out these possibilities.
Hope this will help you.
With best wishes.
