Fractured Leg. Took To ER. Have Clot. Will The Delay Harm Him?

My son fractured his leg (patella? I believe) on Sat am however he was in PHX and the urgent care doctor told
him to fly home and have it taken care of. Unfortunately the earliest flight home was Monday. I took him to the ER
and they said he has a clot and gave him appt with orthopedic this am. The orthopedic dr said they cannot do anything til the clot dissolves and wants to see him next Tuesday. My son does not have medical coverage and I am concerned that this delay could harm him more but I don't have the money to pay for it either. Please advise what is the best thing for him to do

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM
For fracture he needs immobilization of the limb. Clot is due to haematoma formation(collection of blood). It will resolves gradually. Continue icing and elevate the limb over two pillows to reduce the swilling. Avoid putting weight and rest well.
Hope this will helps you. Take care.
