Frequent Bleeding. Family History Of Fibroids And Endometriosis. Recommendation?
My 21 year old college daughter (who is still a virgin) is having her menstrual cycle repeat every other week with heavy bleeding . I have had a hysterectomy in my early 40s due to fibroid tumors and endometriosis resulting in my bleeding 80% of time and becoming anemic with iron deficiency. She is experiencing some of the same symptoms but doesn t want a physical exam. What do you recommend?
Well with family history of fibroids and endometriosis, there is a high chance that your daughter might have developed endometriosis which could be responsible for the intermenstrual bleeding your daughter is experiencing. She will definitely need medical attention and you will have to convince her to get examined by a doctor so that the cause of this abnormal bleeding should be determined and treated. Let her know that she must not get necessarily get a hysterectomy or a surgery if any fibroids or endometriosis are detected. But other treatment options could be considered that can conserve her uterus until she can start conceiving her own children.
Hope this helps
