I am 63 old woman-have had for over 15 years many falls in my life that now are really started to hurt. Was told long long ago I had empilisy and had my licence taken away for a year--but did get license back and I still have fall that are so fast and quick and have finally realize that I might be having mini strokes. Can you help me?
If minor strokes are contributing to your fall then there is an increased risk of a larger stroke. Stroke risk can be reduced by the following: (1) maintaining a normal blood pressure (2) eliminating smoking if this is an issue (3)controlling blood sugars if there is a history of diabetes (4) maintaining normal cholesterol (5)reducing any excess weight
These factors are known to help reduce the chance of a stroke.
Your doctor may consider a CT scan of the brain to determine if there is a history of minor strokes. You may be started on aspirin which would also reduce your risk profile.
I hope this helps
