Frequently Attacked With Cold And Ear Infection With No Relief Even After Using Montair LC. What Could Be The Problem?
Hi, My kid is suffering from cold (sometimes followed by cough and ear infection) for the past 4 months. When we give cold/cough medicine or antibiotics she will be cured, but again get cold after a week or so. Did S.IGE test and the result was 91.2 IU/ml. ENT specialist told her problem is allergy and put her on montair LC kid and nasonex mometasone aqueous nasal spray for 1 month. But while taking those medicines for a month she got cold twice. Then we consulted allergy specialist and he said its not allergy problem ,but just because she started schooling and her immunity is low. So no need to give any allergy medicine. Then we stopped all medicines. But again she got cold followed by ear infection. Then we took her to another ENT specialist. He told its allergy and again prescribed Montair LC kid and flomist. 2 days after starting the medication, she is having runny nose now. What should I do?pls reply
Hi, Thank you for your query. Frequent cold is due to allergy, food allergy, and due to viral infections. Oral antihistamines such as cetirizine can be given for symptoms. But if the frequent cold is due to allergic rhinitis, montair is a good option. Continue the medication as advised by the doctor. Take precautions to prevent the child exposure to allergies and infections. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
