Getting A Rash On My Face After The Intake Of Accutane
Hi, Ive been on accutane now for 4 months 40 mg alternating 80 mg. after 3 weeks I started getting a rash on my face and no where else. The rash is flesh colored and doesn t itch. Could the accutane be causing the rash. I know people get it on their hands and arms but can they get it on their face only? Will it go away once I stop the med? How long does it take to go away?
I would keep a possibility of retinoid dermatitis, as the reason for the rash on your face. Retinoid dermatitis is common on face. The reason behind this is because you are on a high dose of oral retinoids, which are responsible for epidermal thinning (specifically stratum corneum thinning, which is reduced to 5 cell layer from 14 cell layer thickness) and increased vascularity of the dermis which manifests as a dermatitis.
Sometimes retinoid dermatitis necessitates reducing the dose of retinoids OR alternatively it can benefit from using a moderately potent topical steroid twice daily over the dermatitic skin.
