Getting Over Cold, Have Plugged Ears, Had Loss Of Equilibrium On Blowing Nose. Cause?
I am getting over a cold (had it all last week). Yesterday I woke up with both ears plugged. I left it alone, hoping it would correct itself but today is day two and it hasnt. I used some ear drops today to clean out excess wax which wasn t too invasive. A little after that, I was blowing my nose and my ear had something happen to it followed by me losing equilibrium for a few minutes. What was that?
hello,
the human ear, nose and throat are related in their functions, and thus often in the disorders that affect them. the ear is connected with the nose and throat by the auditory (Eustatchian) tube which leads to the pharynx, the vestibular system in the inner ear is responsible for balance, These connections sense movement and changes in your head position, if there is an imbalance caused it leads to dizziness or loss of equilibrium. when we blow our nose, we sometimes use intense pressure, which makes our ears 'pop'. this may be the reason you lost equilibrium, but your body must have gotten back to normal because your body has the capacity to normalize and adapt. you shall be just fine. take care
