Getting Sick After A Broken Toe & Vomitting Every Morning.
Mywife broke her toe a few days ago, saw urgent care confirmed the small middle toe was indeed broke. they gave her hydrocodon for a pain reliever. but since the actual break she has been vomitting every morning. She thinks it is the stomach flu, can this be the case or can it be related to the broken tow ?
Well nausea is a side effect of hydrocodon that could be it, otherwise I haven't heard to much about nausea being a side effect of bone trauma, and it could also be a virus like your wife believes. The only way to be sure is to go to a doctor.
Hi
Nausea and vomiting are not related to fracture toe but may be due to hydrocodon which may cause vomiting, switch on to non opiod analgesics like ibuprofen. co existing GI infection should be considered if she continue to have vomiting after discontinuation of opiod.
Take care
Hello.Welcome.Most likely vomitings are because of gastritis caused by the analgesic you are taking.Start either omeprazole or pantoprozole along with analgesic like Nimuselide and stop Hydrocodon. You will be alright.Good luck.
I appreciate the feedback. A lot has happened since this origninal post. Since the posting She had 7 ER Visits in 6 months (2 had 10 day stays with them). All of the visits were due to continued vomiting ever 3 -5 min for large amount of hours. End result was gallbladder removal. Hydascan ( think I am misspelling ) showed it working at 38%. I dont believe this was the cause since her twin sister had the same problem after taking a different medication 1 year later and had 3 ER visits (1 for 7 days stay and 1 for 3 days)for the exact same sysmptoms and gallbladder is fine.
