Getting Swollen Red Sore Itchy Upper Eye Lids. Using Hydrocortisone Cream. Could This Be Blepharitis?

Hi for the past 3 years I have been getting extremely swollen red sore itchy upper eye lids around March time that lasts until I go to Spain at the end of June when it disappears overnight . My eyes are not sore or itchy just the eyelids. Tried changing all my make up, stopping body lotions, fake tan and removing nail polish. But nothing worked. Only hydrocortisone cream used every day kept it under control. My GP thought it was blepharitis and out me on antibiotics but these did not work. Then she thought it might be ocular rosacea and I went on tetracycline for 3months to no avail. Do you think it's good old fashioned hayfever???? Many thanks

It seems from the history that you are having chronic inflammation of the eye lid called as blepharitis. Blepharitis may be associated with rosacea for which you are taking treatment.
The treatment for blepharitis takes long time and may extend to 2-3 months. The treatment is usually by lid scrubs, antibiotic and steroid eye ointment and treatment of the associated conditions.
Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for complete evaluation and appropriate treatment.
