Glands Swollen, Cough, Growth At Right Tonsil. Consult Doctor?
My 7 year old son this past year has had several severe infections in his throat. His glands have swollen to where you can see them on the outside of his neck. Tonight he was complaining that he is coughing too much and could sleep. So I asked if he had a soar throat and looked in. It appears as if there is a growth of some sort almost completely blocking his right tonsil. Is this something to get checked out first thing in the morning at the er?
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Red swollen tonsil ( right side) is due to acute infection. Cough may be due to infection or allergy. Don't be in panic. These are actually common complaints of children disease. Streptococcus , staphlococcus are the most common bacteria among others which infects throat. Consult a physician and get in primary treatment and that will be sufficient. Hope I have answered your question. If further any question I will help. Good luck. Dr. HET
hi,please take him to a pediatrician as soon as possible because there are so many reasons for that growth and it might be sometimes a block to breath freely during sleep and your child might feel very difficult to swallow and he will neglect his feeds and for that his immune system will coperate the infection to grow to treat that immediately is very important.Thank you.
