Got An ECG Done. Normal Blood Pressure, Heart Rate Increased. Should I Be Worried About The Findings?

Back in December, I got an ECG done as part of a standard health check. Previous ECG's performed just a few months earlier after suffering a caffeine overdose while working overseas showed no abnormalities. This time (in December) the ECG noted a "left-axis deviation" but normal blood pressure, heart rate was elevated at 105 (but this is because I am prone to panic attacks and suffer from anxiety, especially in a clinical setting. When not anxious my pulse rate is in the mid 80's or lower). I was suffering from clinical anxiety at the time the test was being administered, but immediately after leaving the clinic I was calm again.

After reading about left-axis deviation, I was very worried. Can anyone reassure me or let me know the significance of this finding? BTW a few months before the test, I got a blood test done and my cholesterol is in the normal range. I am also NOT diabetic nor do I suffer from any other health conditions (to the best of my knowledge).

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Left axis deviation may a normal variation / or levt ventricular hypertrophy / or conduction system disorder. THE FIRST STEP IS TO SEE A CARDIOLOGIST.
HOLTER (24 to 48 hour ambulatory monitoring) / ECHOcardiogram / TMT (Treadmill exercise ECG) / LABORATORY work-up – may all be necessary for further assessment and assistance.
You may even need Electro Physiological Studies (EPS)
The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck

Hello,
Thanks for posting the question to H.C.M.Forum.
After reading your query I would suggest you please don't get excited and remains calm.
Anxiety is the root cause of your concern, so please don't get anxiety.
Now I will explain you about your query i.e. "LEFT AXIS DEVIATION".
The deviation of electrical axis of the heart on ECG to the left of its normal position which is in the range of -30 degree to +110 degree.
The causes includes as,
Obesity,
Ascites,
Left Ventricular Hypertrophy,
Left anterior hemiblock,
inferior wall infarction.
Normal axis is -30 degree to 0 degree in lead 1st,
+30 degree to +60 degree in lead 2nd,
+ 60 degree to +90 in aVF lead.
Beyond +100 degree to further it goes into left side and known as left axis deviation.
I hope you will understand all the things clearly.
If any further query I will be happy to help.
Dr. HET
