Got High BP. Takes Pain Pills. Had Nose Bleeds. Undergone Knee Surgery. Pain Killers Responsible For This?

Husband takes at least 6 pain pill, for his bad knee surgery and a bad neck, has high blood pressure couple of yrs ago think he might have had a stroke so thats a blood thinner. just got out of Tulane hosp in New orleans for a very serious nose bleed and blood pressure going up & down in icu for over 24 hrs. Questions: long use of pain med be messing him up

Pain killers (NSAIDs) and blood thinning medicines do cause nasal or GI bleeding especially in hypertensives. Please get a coagulation profile done and if deranged, get it corrected. These medicines need to be taken under supervision with regular coagulation profile monitoring if episodes of bleeding occur. Pain killers from non NSAID group can be used in such patients, but do ask your doctor for this. Regards
