Got Hit By A Baseball On The Base Of The Leg. Swelled Up & Bruised. Hurts When Walking. Problem?
The other day I was at baseball practice hitting off of a pitcher machine that was throwing 70 mph. On one of the pitches it came inside on me and I swung too early. The baseball bounced off my bat and hit my at the base of my leg just above the foot. It swelled up and bruised. It is red the day after and doesn't hurt until I walk on it (it also pops when I walk). Should I go to the doctor.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. There is formation of haematoma due to a blunt injury at site of injury. Same thing happened to you . There is redness , swelling, mild to moderate pain. As blood resolve the color of site ( injured part) starts fading and pain lessen. When exertion ( walking than pain worsen,) this is a natural thing. Only rest and ice pack will provide relief. In my opinion there is no need to consult a doctor. Hope I have answered your question. If further any question I will help. Good luck. Dr. HET
