Hello and welcome to HCM, I read your query and understood your concern. It sounds like a case of urticarial hives to me. Usually any underlying infection in the body may trigger urticaria, in your husband s case it looks like cellulitis provoked it. Was it a diffuse cellulitis ? If yes and hands are still swollen , infection might not yet have fully resolved. Consult your physician again to get a course of oral antibiotics prescribed. As for itching, give your husband anti allergics like cetrizine / loratadine twice daily. It may also bring down swelling a little. Hope I helped.
