Got Rash From Salvia Plants, On Prednisone, Not Improving. What To Do Next?
I replanted flower garden last weekend & pulled up the salvia plants that were approximately 3 feet tall. One day later I broke out on a poison ivy type rash . Went to the doctor & have been on prednisone for a week & treating the infected with a topical cream. Rash does not seem to be improving. Not sure what to do next.
The clinical rash that you mentioned which occurred after exposure to some rare plants is probably due to allergic reaction. However, as you were on steroid (predinisolone) and still there was no improvement, other possibilities of some rare fungal infections have to be ruled out. Physical examination is mandatory to assess this.
A dermatologist after seeing the rash can make proper diagnosis. Results of complete blood picture can give an idea, whether it is an infection or allergic reaction. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have have any clarifications.
