Got Sore Throat And Cough. Prescribed Promthazine With Codein To Help And For Sleep. Is It Correct?

I got a sore throat Sat. and got worse Sunday then moved to cough, upper respiratory cough can hurt and had same kind of summer cold last year.. My Dr. prescribed Promthazine VC with Codein to help control and calm for sleep.

I still have a little more than half the bottle left.. it says use by 9-24-12 so my question is will it work/help tonight or
is it no good? Thanks much... Mark

Hi,
As you got medicine expires on 9-24-12, should not be used now.
It may not work or partially work but may produce harm due to expiry date.
As you got severe upper respiratory tract infection and few days passed, it is better to consult your doctor and have medicine.
