Had 6 Back Surgeries, 2 Cervical With Last One Fused, Difficulty Walking, Sitting, Back, Hip And Leg Pain. Solution ?

I have had 6 back surgeries, 2 cervical with last one was fused. I am presently having left back, hip and upper leg pain. Sitting is difficult, walking sometimes helps but then I feel like I am dragging a concrete block. I can not lay on the left side for more than 10-15 minutes before very bad pain starts. Now I am starting to have some lower back issues also on my right side and also some bladder leakage. Not a lot just enough that I wear a small pad. I have seen a local neuro doctor and due to scar tissue at L5 and S1 he thinks may have some complications. I left very confused and aggravated. I have been told I have degenerated disc, spinal stenosis, and osteoarthritis. I have asked my primary doctor to send me to someone for a second opinion in Louisville Kentucky. Is this what I need to do or just give up and hope for the best? I have fallen several times. I am a 58 year old woman grasping for advice any way I can get it. I don't want to be an invalid or live with this pain forever!

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

As per the description of your symptoms, you seem to have a significant problem in your Lumbar spine.

The only way to diagnose all the lesions in L.S.spine is by undergoing MRI scan.

As you have already underwent number of surgeries to your back previously, the general outcome after any more surgery will not be so good.

I suggest you to try newer methods of treatment modalities for your back pain and disc problems like
* Radio frequency ablation
* Ozonolysis
*TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation)

Hope this information is helpful . Good day
