Had ACL Reconstruction With Meniscus Removal Of 50%. Now Sharp Stabbing Pain In Knee. Is The Meniscus Re-torn?
I had ACL reconstruction with a meniscus removal of 50% 2 weeks ago, all of a sudden I get a very sharp, stabbing pain in that knee when I stand up. the pain is to the lower left of my right patella. I'm scared I may have re torn the meniscus but I'm not sure. the pain started the night of when I did my heel slip excercises.
It looks from your detail that you had ACL repair & partial meniscectomy or 50% removal of meniscus.
The present symptoms are not indicating towards menisci rupture but this pain can be due to cartilage problem underneath the patella bone. There can be softening of the cartilage which may be reason for your problem.
You should do following to have relief in this-
-Avoid knee bending,specially squatting position.
-Avoid walking up or down on stair. You should use escalators.
-Start doing knee strengthening exercises like following-
