Had MRI For Lumbosacral Spine. What Does Findings Indicate?
Mri lumbosacral spine findings reveal lumbar spondylosis with diffuse disc bulge lateralisation towards right side and annular tear at L5-S1 level effacing epidural fat and narrowing of bilateral lateral recess R>L with compromise of right neural foramina. What does this mean? Is it a curable condition? Are any specific precautions to be taken in daily routine to avoid it from aggravating?
Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM
Your MRI findings suggest that you have degenerative disease of spine.
There is spondylotic changes in spine.
There is diffuse disc bulge and it happens due to weakness in annulus fibrosis.Disc bulge is lateralised towards right side.
There is tear in annulus fibrosis at L5-S1 level and it is effacing epidural fat and also causing of narrowing of neural foramina(Right> Left).
Your condition can be managed by physiotherapy and surgery.
Physiotherapy should be tried first.
Surgery should be last option.
You should strengthen back muscles by exercise.
You should avoid lifting heavy objects and don’t lean forward.
Get well soon.
Take Care
