Had Transpedicular. On Oxycodone. Suffer From Crohns Disease. Should Not Take N-saids. Have Missed Toilet. Wrong Prescription?

HELLO, MY NAME S CONNIE, I had Transpedicular L4-L5 Fusion on November 1st 2013. My Surgeon gave me Oxycodone 5mg immediate release. I am not familiar with this form of percocete. I looked it up on the internet, It said it has an n-said in it. My question is; does it? I suffer from Crohns disease and should not take any n-saids. I also found that I have to take more of it because the pain is horrible. Since surgery, 3 days after, I missed the toilet in the middle of the night and fell on my butt. So I need a pain killer that works. Is this the right or wrong prescription for me. Also viseril was given to boost the pain meds. Thank you, connie

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Connie,

Oxycodone is a pain killer, but it is an opioid and not a NSAIDs.

It can be used in patients with Crohn's disease as you. So, if you notice any complication, please contact your GI immediately.

With regards to Viseril, I believe it refers to Vistaril, which is an anti-histaminic drug, used mostly to treat allergic reactions.

Hope it helped!
