Had Varicocele Surgery. No Pain. Have Quit Smoking. When Took A Cigarette, Have Pain In Testicle. Veins Swollen. How To Overcome This Problem?

Hi,

Ive had Varicocele surgery 7 weeks ago but my 'bag of worms' doesnt seem to be reducing in size. The past couple of weeks i have had no pain or problems so thought it was working and have quit smoking around 9 weeks ago however i went out last night and had quite abit to drink and ended up having a cigarette, now the next day i have a ache in my left testicle and the veins seem to have swollen again. Have i done some thing to make the surgery go wrong or was the surgery unsuccesfull or is all this completely normal? When should the veins disapear? I had grade 3 varicocele when i had the embolization.

Any help is apprecaited.

Thanks.

Hi, thank you for posting.

Your problem is generally caused by unknown causes. Smoking is one of the most agent that grave the disease.
After I read all the question I noticed that you have done the most known processes on this case, surgery has done its job.

But I recommend you some other tests for diagnose of Nutcracker syndrome(mesoaortic compression of the left renal vein) because I think you suffer from this syndrome.
1. Left renal venography.
2. CT scan.
3. Doppler ultrasound.
This is all you need.

I wish a fast recover.
