Had A Defribillator, Had A Bypass, Breast Swollen. How Long Will Problems Persist?
My brother had his first heart attack at age 33, he had bypass at 40, he had a defribillator at 41 and has three more since, he had an ablasion when he was 50. He is now 58 and has 18% heart function and the breast with the defribillator has swollen to a 38D. How much longer do you think he can survive with these issues? He hasn t had an espisode in 11 months prior to that he was having up to 3 a day. He also has grandmal epilepsy .
Hi,
It is difficult to assess the exact survival period. But more alarming thing in your query is 18% function. Most probably what you meant is 18% Ejection Fraction of the heart. Normally it should be 60-65%. With such a low EF quality of life will be lost. He will have heart failure symptoms like water logging and limb oedema. Strict medication will help. He should be free of salt in diet with control of water intake. It is good that he does not have VF episodes for last one year.
