He has the distinction of becoming the first ever surgeon in the world to perform an AWAKE CARDIAC SURGERY (A unique type of Heart Surgery during which the patient remains completely conscious and the heartbeat will be stopped for hours without using ventilator) on a patient with a rare ‘Bombay blood group’ (The Bombay blood group has been identified in only about 179 people in the world).He is, in fact, the first surgeon, who introduced an atypical and complex operation to the world – it was performed on a patient who had both rheumatic and congenital heart disease. He also holds a record of operating on both a husband and wife together on the same day, in a rare surgical scenario of high risk cardiac disease. Dr. Nisarga is one among very few cardiothoracic consultants with vast experience and skills, in India to perform thousands of cardiac surgeries. He becomes the first youngest consultant cardiac surgeon in India to start a new department of his own and head the department. He transformed cardiac surgical department at Sapthagiri superspeciality hospital into a leading and a very high volume centre in a very short span of time with a high success rate in surgery. He has independently conducted more than 1000 cardiac operations-all variety of operations. He conducted awake cardiac surgery on a sick patient in a rare scenario-closing the septal defect when the heart is completely stopped for about 4 hours; still the patient is completely awake and conscious without using the ventilator. He demonstrated newer techniques of valve repairs at live workshops. He took challenge and operated some of the very high risk patients with high success rate. He is one among very few cardiac surgeons in the country who is skilled in both paediatric and adult heart operations. Attended and presented many scientific papers in various cardiac surgery conferences and CME programmes in the country. He has got excellent command over surgical procedures. He obtained first rank in all India entrance test to qualify for MCh cardiac surgery. Then he completed his MCh in cardiac surgery at Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, Bangalore. He got honored by various institutions for humanitarian work in cardiac surgery. Dr. Nisarga is one among very few who has done many number of cutting edge procedures like of Off Pump, Beating heart coronary artery bypass grafting, some of them were highly complicated. The success rate in mitral valve repairs is one of the major skills of Dr. Nisarga. The success rate of his surgery tells the story of his wonderful skills. He holds the record to become the youngest cardiac surgeon to conduct an awake cardiac surgery in India recently. He finds his happiness when poor and needy patients get treated by him, go home with a smile on their face.
