If any stray dog bites one has to take mandatory tetanus toxoid injection (if not taken in the last 5yrs) and anti rabies vaccine @O,3,7,14 and 28 days..

If the dog can be watched for 10 days and if it does not bite other people or does not die then you can avoid the 4th and 5th dose.Monitoring the stray dogs is difficult and hence ideally the full course I.e 5 injection should be taken.

So get in touch with your doctor and get vaccinated.

If it is a pet dog and if it is up to date for anti rabies vaccination, nothing to worry and observe the dog for 10 days and it is normal after 10 days no vaccination is required. If the dog is abnormal start vaccination as early as possible.

If it is not vaccinated regularly or if you are not sure of its vaccination status I advise you to consult your Physician for the start of anti rabies vaccination as per the schedule of 0, 3, 7, 14, and 28th days.

Observe the dog for 10 days. Observe the dog for 10 days and if it is normal you can discontinue the last 2 injections with the doctor advise.

If the dog is abnormal you can continue the last two doses to complete the full schedule.

And I advise you to take a shot of tetanus toxoid if you are not up to date for tetanus vaccination.

Therefore I advise you to consult the doctor for advise on rabies prevention.

Please do not go by the advice of the nurse.

You should get proper vaccination for rabies as per schedule.

Only if the pet dog is completely and upto date vaccinated for rabies than you can wait.

You should also be vaccinated for tetanus.

So consult your doctor for the same.

You must take vaccination for rabies.
Vaccination should be started immediately.You need to take five doses of rabies vaccine on 0,3,7,14 and 28 days.

Dog may develop symptoms after few days.It will be too late to take rabies vaccine if dog gets symptoms of rabies.
Hence better to start vaccination now only.

Since you have bitten by a pet dog then it should be vaccinated but no risks should be taken in the dog bite case.

So you should be immediately go for Injection T.T. and vaccination for the Rabies i.e. Injection Rabipur.

This vaccine injected as per following schedule:
Day - 0, 3, 7, 14, & 28.

So you should not be delay in starting of vaccination, and full course should be injected despite last 2 doses can be avoided if dog kept under observation for around 10 days, but I recommend 5 injections full course.

i will ask you 1 thing..is the pet dog yours? and is it vaccinated?
if the above said are yes..then no need to worry about rabies and take injection TT.
If the pet dog is not yours,,you have to observe the dog for 11 days..why observing the dog,,insted take a regular course of anti rabies vaccine for 5 days that is on day 0,3,7,14,28
day 0 is the first dose and the 4th day i.e., 2nd dose to be taken..
GO FOR IT..
