hi I had a lumpectomy and radiation 20 years ago...stage 0 dcis. I am now fifty one and going through the change... talk about hot flashes.... my breast that had the procedure 20 years ago has an inverted nipple ... for 6 years... clean monograms... about 3 months ago I had a scare my breast felt like someone pulling on it from the inside and pain when touched... got a monaogrm and it showed nothing.. all good... yesterday my breast started hurting again same syptoms and today it still hurts and I noticed a light discharge...well I do not think they can give me another monogram.... I have been taking a thyroid supplement under a nutritionist advice...could this be all hormonal.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
Hormonal changes due to menopause can cause breast tenderness. Thyroid disorder, if associated with Increase in Prolactin hormones can cause Discharge from Nipple. You must go for blood test for prolactin levels, and Thyroid function test. Nipple discharge could also be due to excessive stimulation of nipple, and due to some drugs, but must to evaluate thoroughly.
I would suggest you to consult your Doctor again, as you have light discharge also from Nipple. You had mammogram 3 months back. Within 3 months time, there could be different findings. Mammogram and USG Scan have their own limitations. Mammogram can gives sometimes false assurance . As you have high risk of getting recurrence, I would suggest that you should go for MRI Breast now and then every alternate year, you can do MRI instead of Mammogram.
I would strongly recommend that you do not hesitate to go back to your Doctor immediately, to be on safe side.
