Had A Mammogram. Found 11mm Spiculated Nodule In Posterior Left Breast. Is It Brest Cancer?
I have a mammogram report with an 11mm spiculated nodule posterior left breast, confirmed yesterday by ultrasound . I have an appointment with a surgeon Monday morning. for probable biopsy . Strong family history of breast cancer on paternal side. I am 56 years old. I have a question about the term spiculated. Of course I am concerned, but is this a more ominous term for a nodule? Please be honest.
Sorry to hear about your condition. Although 11 mm nodule is pretty small but because it is spiculated, that increases the chances of it being a malignant lump. The final report though can only be confirmed after biopsy. Are there microcalcifications present as well?
Even if it turns out to be malignant, considering the size of the lump, it will be an early cancer which has excellent prognosis.
I would be able to comment on the mammogram, if i see the film.
