Had Breast Augmentation. Discomfort On Knee & Calf Area, Leg Aches, Swollen. DVT?
I had breast augmentation one week ago today.... a couple of days ago I noticed a discomfort in my knee and calf area. The leg was a little achy. There was no swelling or fever, etc. I put on Ted Hose at night to sleep since I am post op ... today, my knee was just a tad swollen and the knee cap and back of knee felt crampy/achy. Does this sound like symptoms for a DVT?
There are many risk factors for developing deep venous thrombosis, some of them are 1. Immobilisation lasting for more than 12 hours. 2. Bedridden patients. 3. Cancer patients. 4. Long haul flights (trans Atlantic) 5. Females taking certain birth control pills. 6. Patients with increased coagulation profile.
The earliest feature of DVT is calf muscle tenderness on squeezing. In simpler language, it means severe pain when calf muscle is squeezed. Along with calf muscle tenderness, edematous limb and reddening of the skin increase the chances of DVT.
If any of the above factors match with your presentation, please consult a surgeon. To rule out DVT a Doppler study of veins of lower limb is confirmatory.
Hope this helps.
