You are 18 years old with 33 kg body weight. You have been diagnosed with epilepsy in 1999 and took Gardinel 20 mg for about 7 years and then remained seizure free for about 6-7 years and then seizures reoccured about 6 month back. You have been give Carbamazepine 400 mg per day and this caused excessive sedation and you were shifted to Oxacarbamazepine 300 mg per day.
Now coming to you questions-
- The doses you have been prescribed are correct and in exact dose range. Even if high doses are given they will be safe.
- There is no significant precautions with this drug, keep a watch for any rare skin rash that may develop with this drug.
- You can take normal balanced diet. Avoid alcohol or any other psychoactive substance use. Consult your doctor even you have minor cold or fever.
Thanks
