Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Had Heart Attack, Stroke, Artery Clog. On Pacemaker. What Is The Chance Of Survival?
In an older compromised patient (age 79) previous heart attack (last 10 years), stroke (last year), pacemaker (last 2 years) can main left artery clog to 90-99% and go undetected with frequent follow up by CD? Patient is currently hospitalized with only 10% heart function and upon consultation was told to live comfortably until passing or chance bypass surgery w a 50/50 chance of survival......your opinion on both please.
HI Thank for asking to HCM It is great respect to HCM we again thank for asking a opinion, here the patient's general condition is matter if the general condition is poor then thinking for any procedure is just out of question, once the general condition improved then angioplasty is the option, looking to age of patient even after the CABG chances of better result than angioplasty is would not be there, instead patient can do very good clinically with angioplasty because of invasive and less invasive procedure, if the LVF is greatly impaired then it is to be improved medically with inotropic drugs, I would feel great if any other clinical report be sent to HCM for further discussion, have great day.
