Hi there,
Thanks for your query.
A short course of
Prednisone in low doses, does not raise Blood sugar. You apparently had either, an undiagnosed diabetes; or, latent diabetes (pre-diabetic stage) which was unmasked by prolonged use of Prednisone in high doses.
Pain in upper arms is commonly due to compression over spinal cord/nerves emerging from the spine. It can be a complication of prolonged diabetes (called
diabetic neuropathy) or, due to certain Vitamin B- particularly B12 or Thiamin- deficiencies.
The exact cause can only be ascertained by medical examination and relevant tests.
Hence, consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order required tests, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable/modified treatment as advised.
