Had Lower Abdomen Surgery. What Causes Legs To Harden?
What causes legs to harden and I mean really hard like a rock and shiny on older adults in their late 70 s early 80 s also the skin color has darkened. This happened after lower abdomen surgery happened 5 months ago today. Please advice on the kind of help to seek from a Doc.
Though there are many causes and conditions that produce hard and shiny legs, I suspect a Vascular compromise (possibly Venous thrombosis) in your case, as it has happened after a lower abdomen surgery.
A doppler ultrasound examination of the legs will rule out the presence/absence of venous thrombosis.
A detailed clinical examination is needed to arrive at a correct diagnosis. I suggest you to consult a physician (without any delay) for further evaluation and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good luck
