hello there ,

Dry socket is a extremely painful condition of the extraction wound which is seen due to dislodgement of blood clot from the extraction socket which exposes the socket bone to oral environment leading to alveolar osteitis .

This condition appears after 2 to 3 days post extraction.

tooth ache kit will not help to solve the problem , it will only subside the pain but for the wound to heal to need to go for treatment.

dry socket needs to be curretted again to induce fresh bleeding and to remove the irritants . zinc oxide eugenol dressing is applied over the wound and it is replaced every 2 to 3 days till the symptoms subside.

i hope this information helps you ,

take care.

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

Dry socket is caused post extraction due to dis lodgement of clot.

If left unattended may lead to severe ostetiis.

In my view, you must see Your dentist,if required a second opinion too in this regard. Also the toothache kit is not going to help much in this case.

A medicated dressing of zinc oxide eugenol should be applied in the socket and should be changed at regular intervals.

Thus please see your dentist.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care.

hi...
thanks for the query..
probably its a dry socket... and sorry to say, you have to visit your dentist again...
he will clean and irrigate the area properly and will place medicated dressing inside your socket... that will be difficult for you to do by yourself...
so.. dont worry and go for it...
take care...

hello friend ,
thanks for sharing your query ,
yes you are very correct dry socket is a very painful condition.your choice of using Redcross Toothache kit correct.just dip a cotton pellet in eugenol liquid and put it over the affected socket;then bite the pellet ...you will feel much relief..keep repeating this for time;but kindly dont overuse it as eugenol delays clot formation...
get well soon...take care...

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

I would like to tell you that dry socket is extremely painful condition caused by dislodgement of extraction socket leaving it exposed to the external atmosphere.
Analgesic will not solve the problem, you need to go for the complete treatment of the condition, i will suggest you to visit the Dentist the extraction socket need to be curetted and zinc oxide eugenol pack can be placed in the socket to promote healing, you probably have to visit the Dentist periodically to change the dressing.

Hope this helps out.

Regards....

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Dry socket has developed at the site of extraction socket causing severe pain.

I would advice you to visit a dentist and get the socket irrigated with betadine and dressing the socket has to be done.

As you had already undergone extraction of tooth, irrigation of socket is not at all a painful procedure.

No need to be panic.

Meanwhile,maintain oral care.

Rinse your mouth frequently using warm saline.

Take care.
