im 15 and just had my period for the first time ever! its kinda scary. im just wondering a few things.. how often do people have there period? How do i get prepared? tampons or pads? it kinda has a bad smell?. any advise? thank you!
you are supposed to be getting your period every month however since you have just started, it is most likely it is going to be irregular. this just means that it will come at different times, sometimes skipping months. it continues on for like 40 years, until you hit menopause
I would suggest starting with pads just to figure out your flow. with tampons you need to be careful with the absorbency's. you don't want one that is too light, with possibilities of leaking, but you don't want one that is too heavy, making it more difficult to use.
Make sure you change your pads every couple of hours even if it isn't completely covered, for hygiene purposes. also make sure you wash/clean to prevent yourself from smelling. they have special wipes, like baby wipes for your period that you can purchase
advice- don't freak out if you miss your period one month, or if it comes early/late, you are just starting
- if you have any problems don't be afraid to approach someone, all girls go through it so they will understand
congrats on women-hood and good luck :)
