Had Oral Sex With Sex Worker. What Are The Chances Of HIV?
Hi Dr,
I had an episode of oral sex with a sex worker on 26/05/2013, she just tried to give me an oral but I was too drunk or due to fear of HIV to get an erection and we huged each other and kissed on ther parts of the body(not genitals or lips). Neither did I insert nor was I able to exite her. What is my chances of HIV? What tests shall I undergo to find if I am infected with HIV? and How long after should I undergo the tests. I am very much disturbed, Please Reply.
From your description, your chances of contracting HIV are slim to nothing. But is always better to be same than sorry.
In my opinion, an ELISA test conducted after 3 months of contact with a sex worker of unknown HIV status, is quite accurate. Or if you wish to go in for a test much earlier, then a HIV DNA PCR test conducted at or after 28 days of the sexual contact is very accurate (98-99% accurate).
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-shoaib-khan/64581 . I would gladly help you.
Best wishes.
