Had Pilonidal Cysectomy. Discharge From Stitches, Fishy Smelling. Infection?

I had a Pilonidal Cysectomy (I m not sure how you spell it) on the 20th of December. On the 31st I went in to get the stitches removed, but there was still a hole at the bottom of the suture that hadn t healed. There s discharge , and my doctor told me to pack it with gauze , to keep it dry. The past couple of days, when I took out the gauze, there was slightly yellow discharge on it along with some pink discharge and it smelled of fish or something. When I took the gauze out about 20 minutes ago, there was less pinkish discharge, but it smelled almost like clorox bleach... Is this a sign of infection, or of healing?

Hello,
Thanks for the query.

You might have developed infection of the sutures.

Fishy smell indicates gram negative bacterial infection

Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity tests.

Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.

Let me know if you have any other doubt.
