Should Absorbable Sutures That Cause Facial Scars Between Upper Lip And Nose Be Removed?
Hi there, I had a scar revision on a childhood facial scar. It is between my upper lip and nose. At 6 days the stitches were removed and it appeared flat and clean. The following day, it raised up, became red, very tender and hard. I feel a hard tubular structure upon palpating. Md says my body needs to absorb it and it can months and I will have to wait it out, Should these absorbable sutures be removed as it is now 3 1/2 weeks out and it has not improved. It looks 110% worst than it appeared prior to the revision. Please advise. Thanks.
If the sutures causes tissue reaction it can be removed. Consult a general surgeon and get evaluated.
