HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
It is possible during an acute illness like
pneumonia that the blood pressure can rise as the body is under physical
stress.
This however would resolve after the illness if it was only due to the pneumonia, if it persists then it is unlikely that this is the cause of the increase in blood pressure.
Blood pressure rises as persons age and it is reported that with every incremental increase of 20/10mmHg above 115/75 the risk of
heart disease doubles. This is the reason blood pressure control is important.
If you are active and eat healthy this would help with the control of the blood pressure and also keep the other risk factors such as
cholesterol and high blood sugars in check.
All medications have potential side effects that may or may not occur, if you find with the use of your present medication, you are experiencing problems such as
constipation then it is important to speak to your doctor.
He or she can suggest an appropriate substitute.
I hope this helps
