Had Rotator Cuff Surgery, Unable To Fix Completely, Severe Pain. Treatment?
I had a rotator cuff surgery about 2 yrs ago the doctor was unable to fix completely a were he could not repair it there is no ligament between the joint and it bothers me all the time most of the time alieve works for the pain but sometimes and I don't know how exactly how I aggravated enough that it becomes painful extremely sometimes for only a few days but as long as 3 or 4 weeks my family doctor gives me pain medicine but says she cant give it to me more then twice a year and I need to see a pain management doctor if im going to need it more often . but I don't know if they could help me or not I don't need it all the time but yet I don't know when I will need and im a little afraid they will hurt my shoulder when they examine it that could be even more painful to me . . .any suggestions and are these pain management doctors there to help me with the pain or just going to be push away without any help
Hi, as you think it is not preferable, to go for pain management. As it will allow the joint to work, and cant stop the friction, and damage to the joint. So i advise you to consult a rheumatologist for correction of the joint. Thank you.
Persistent pain after a rotator cuff repair always indicates that there is some form of instability inside.
So, mere use of pain killers will not serve the purpose as you are not addressing the root cause.
I suggest you to undergo a "Dynamic MRI" scan for your shoulder which picks up the instability problem. Accordingly, you should approach an arthroscopic surgeon with adequate experience in redo surgeries for further management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
