Had Triple Bypass, Had Angiogram, Front Artery Of The Bypass Is Blocked, The Back Artery Is 99 Percent Blocked. Treatment?
My husband had a triple bypass 11 years ago. Today, he had an angiogram and they found the front artery of the bypass is blocked and the back artery is 99 percent blocked. The doctor is sending him for a CT to determine if the front artery is blocked all the way down. If it is not, he is saying that they would probably do a bypass.. If it is blocked then they would put in a stent in the back artery. My husband is 68 and has always been fit..we wonder why the bypass has it lasted longer. What does this mean for his future longevity?
Intervention is certainly necessary The nature of intervention – stent or bypass – depends on the anatomy (structure) When done, the long term prognosis is excellent. He has done well for a decade and more; Further deterioration can be prevented or postponed by aggressive management of the risk factors. The treating doctor alone can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation.
Take care Wishing all well God bless Good luck
