Had Tummy Tuck And Open Wounds. Took Keflex. Have Infection From E Coli, On Ciprofloxaacin. Skin Stings And Burns
I had a tummy tuck almost a month ago. I had two wounds open up. I took Keflex but the problem wasn't solved. I went in this Wednesday and my ps took off the necrosis and restitched me. I went back today and I am really red. Dr. said I have infection probably from e coli. I immediately was put on ciprofloxacin. will this medication work? Im really sore, my skin stings and burns right below my TT incision.
Hi there, Welcome to HCM. Wound infections which present after 7 days are probably due to bacteria which are grouped under gram negative bacilli. E coli is one of them. Ciprofloxacin is very effective against E coli infections. But I would still suggest a culture sensitivity of discharge from the wound and then prescription of an antibiotic. Wound care is recommended. Thanks.
