my mom after having serjury , and after the staples came out it was infected . They are using packing and a pump to drain it. She is also allergic to the adhesives and her skin is like hot water put over it. what else can we us, She is in a lot of pain when they remove the adhesive.
Post operative wound infection is common hospital infection and occurs when appropriate antibiotic cover is not given before, during and after surgery. Many bacteria which cause post operative wound infections are multidrug resistant. I suggest you get a culture sensitivity of the wound swab to identify the pathogen and its antibiotic sensitivity pattern. I also suggest you keep the area clean and the wound will heal within 2-3 days after starting appropriate antibiotics. Avoid adhesives if she is allergic to it. Normal sterile dressing will suffice. Please get a prescription for pain killer and serratiopeptidase to promote faster healing. Thanks
