i would be glad to answer your query, according to the dental query posted by you i would like to inform you that presence of pus and blood post extraction are signs of infection, you haven't mentioned anything about pain, i assume there is none.
but, you need not worry, kindly visit your oral surgeon, he/she will irrigate and clean the area with an antiseptic solution and place a dressing over that area.
Your dentist might prescribe you antibiotics and analgesics for 5-7 days to resolve the infection.
i would advise you to use an antibacterial(betadine) mouth rinse(twice/day),
and warm saline rinses (3-4 times/day).

have you got instructions from your dentist after tooth extraction?
do not touch the extracted site with finger or tongue.it will delay wound healing.do not eat any hard food in that area.do not squeeze the blood or pus coming out.have you got the suturing done in the socket area?
if not visit yor dentist and get the area irrigated with betadine and saline rinses.if the flap is widely open and not at all approximated,get the suturing done to fasten wound healing.
there may be a chance of dry socket also.
in dry socket,there will be foul odour,severe pain of throbbing type,.usually it appears even a week after extraction.there will be low-grade fever,lymphadenopathy.it is treated by obtundant dressing with iodoform gauze and ZOE.
THE extracted socket must be kept clean without food lodgement and by irrigating with mild warm saline.the dressing is changed everyday.

Hello,
I understand that your oral hygiene maintainance is not upto the mark. If the wisdom tooth is extracted with open method usually sutures will be placed, if suturing is not possible then direct dressing will be given and instructions will be given to avoid secondary infection. post extraction complications and faster healing in which oral hygiene maintainance plays major role.
Even now its not too late visit your dentist and get the extracted area checked for healing process, he/she might suggest you for some topical application or mouth wash with or without oral medication(antibiotics & analgesics)
Dear dont worry and at the same time dont ignore it. U can visit dentist, he/she might just clean that area with normal saline/antiseptic solution.

I read your problem. First of all i would like to tell you that pain up to some extant after wisdom tooth removal is normal.
But as you gave the detail, bleeding and pus drainage is not a good sign.
It shows that there is infection in that area.
So i will suggest you please visit to your oral surgeon as soon as possible and get the complete examination done.
Nothing to get worried,your oral surgeon will provide you the proper treatment which will include irrigation of that area followed by placement of antiseptic dressing.
And your oral surgeon must give you antibiotic and pain killers and antiseptic mouth wash like betadine........

I am Dr. Mukesh Asrani and would like to help you regarding your query. Blood or pus comming from the tiny hole near your extraction site is a sign of infection. May by a part of tooth was left behind or there is an infection in the tooth socket. I would advice to get an X ray done with your dentist. You can take antibiotics as prescribed. You should not worry, this condition can be resolved very easily.

according to your history it seems that the tooth socket of your extracted wisdom teeth has not been healed properly.this is a common phenomena...don't worry ,consult your dental surgeon.....i think he will irrigate that area properly and will place alvogel dressing there and will prescribe some sorts of antibiotics ,analgesics ,multivitamins and betadine mouth rinse.following this you should be cured within 7 days if not get a radiograph done and conult your dntist again....wish you good health .thank you.

Typically an infection will also produce enlarged lymph nodes, pain and a fever greater than 101.5 F for longer than a few hours. What may be coming out is blood (normal) and food debris. Food can cause a local irritation and may look like pus. If you are having extreme pain associated with this you may be getting a dry socket.



The oral surgeon will probably gently irrigate the socket with warm saline solution and/or an antifungal/antibiotic mouth rinse Chlorhexidine glucanate. They may then put a collagen plug or surgical dressing in the site. They will educate you on how to keep the area clean and depending if there is an infection present or not, may put you on an antibiotic. Usually after visiting and having the socket irrigated you'll feel a lot better and heal faster without complication.


Also, do not touch, poke or pick at the site. Your hands are dirty and can introduce bacteria leading to an infection. Poking at it will disrupt the healing process prolong the recovery period and may cause complications.

I read you query & would like to tell you that extraction of third molar is complicated procedure & if its open then you might have got sutures placed.After getting third molar extraction few complications are seen like:-
-post-op pain
-swelling
-difficulty in opening mouth
-fever
-lymphadenopathy
This will subside after 7 days & you need to take some precautions like :-
-do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day
-maintain proper hygiene
-prevent food lodegment in same area.
-do betadine gargles
-take your prescribed medications for 5 days
After a week go for check-up to know about your healing of socket.
