Hard Lump And Burning Sensation On Clavicle. Shoulder Surgery Done. Advise?

Approx 6 months ago I had a shoulder surgery to repair a tear in the bicep muscle at the rotator cuff, as well as stabilization and shaving down the clavicle to allow better movement. I seem to have developed a hard lump on the end of my clavicle, at the shoulder where it was shaved. It is visible to everyone, and does not match my other shoulder/clavicle area. I am also experiencing some aching and burning sensation in the same area, as well as in muy delt and down my bicep, its minor, but nagging. I am concerned. Any idea what may be going on?

Hello and welcome to HCM,

You have had shaving of the clavicle as a part of stabilization surgery for the shoulder joint.
The clavicle is known for malunion. This means that the two fragments after a fracture or surgery unite readily. However, due to pulling action of muscle groups attached to two fragments of the clavicle, they do not unite in the correct anatomical position.
There malunion has cosmetic affect but functionally, there is no compromise.

The associated pain and burning sensation may be due to nerve injury caused during surgery.
Consult your treating orthopedician for clinical examination and a X-ray of the shoulder joint for confirmation.
Clinical examination is required to know the cause of pain and burning sensation.

Thanks and take care.
