Hello,
Severe uncontrolled diabetes for a long time damages almost all the systems of body which include heart, kidneys, eyes, blood vessels etc.
Heart diseases and blood vessel diseases are the biggest complication of uncontrolled diabetes.
Adults with uncontrolled diabetes have two to four fold chances of developing heart related death rates as compared to non diabetics.
Your mother must definitely be having some cardiac complications like chest pain or breathlessness which has prompted the doctors to order for angigraphy.
Let the doctors decide about the mode of investigations and treatment of your mother.
They act in the best interest of the patient and should not be seen with doubt.
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
Diabetes is a multi organ disease with involvement of almost all organs of body due to its complications.
Blood sugar both fasting and postprandial must be in controlled range.
Coronary artery disease leading to ischemic heart disease and manifesting in form of angina or heart attack is common in diabetic patients as compared to normal persons.
You should follow angiography and insulin treatment as advised by your treating doctor.
Considering her age along with diabetic history, angiography is needed.
Take care and wishing a speedy recovery.
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
f you have diabetes, you are at least twice as likely as someone who does not have diabetes to have heart disease . People with diabetes also tend to develop heart disease at an earlier age than other people
diabetes is also called ischemic heart disease equivalent. diabetes leads to Coronary Heart Disease, Heart Failure,Diabetic Cardiomyopathy. 50 % of coronary events are pain less in diabetes.
you have not written , for what symptoms she admitted in hospital, duration of DM.
at this high sugar ( UNCONTROLLED DM) is must associated with heart disease.
you should go for ANGIOGRAPHY.
