Hello, ajjab,
From your history , I understand that three of your cousins have been
diagnosed to have "
Fatty Liver ". You also need to find out if they are
overweight ,diabetic ,and have high lipid levels like
high cholesterol and
triglycerides. If they meet this criteria , they fit "
Metabolic Syndrome "
description and this can run in families although it is not hereditary
in a strict sense.
If the cause of death was advanced liver disease , it had to be cirrhosis
which is very advanced stage that could lead to coma and death. You
need to find out about that also.
As prevention , watch your weight. Excercise regularly, keep your lipids
down by proper diet (Low fat and restricted carbohydrates, especially
concentrated sugars) and good protein intake. You should also be on
Super B-Complex Vitamin, along with Vit-E 800 i.u. daily.
You can get a base line ultrasound of the liver along with all the liver
function tests, complete
lipid profile, check for diabetes including blood
sugar and HbA1C level.
Hope this gives you a starting point which you can discuss with your own
doctor and act appropriately.
I wish you the very best.
