What Causes Trance Like Seizure Which Lasts An Hour?

My son who is usually very animated, had a weird episode yesterday. when I got him out of be he looked like he was in a coma. he was awake but unresponsive for almost an hour. Hi will be two in Sept. after than he was acting fine. Running, playing talking. What could have happened? I did give him some water will a little juice during that time. Should I be worried about Petit Mal or diabeties?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The diagnosis of epilepsy or SOL should be confirmed or ruled out by CT scan imaging and an EEG. If nothing is there, then we may wait or start anti-seizure drugs. Although, if there is a second episode, we will have to start medicines surely.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
