Have MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM On Genitals, Not Through Sex. What Are The Other Ways I Can Contract It?

hey i think i have MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM on my genitals (male) but theres no way I could've gotten it through sex, what are the other ways I can contract it? I do go to the gym and use the locker rooms there an awful lot but I don't know it would only show up on my genitals. What should I do and how long does it take until it goes away?

Hi,

Molluscum contagiosum is an infection that occurs due to trauma to skin and direct contact with infected person. Traditional modes of transmission are associated with mild skin trauma like contact sports, sharing of towels and sexual contact.

In adults, the lesions occur on trunk, pubic area, and thighs.

It is a mild disease and easily treatable. Please contact your dermatologist for therapy

Spread of these on the other parts of the body occur by touching them and scratching them.

Maintainance of personal hygeine is a must and avoid sharing towels.
