Have PVC And PAC. Taking Sotalol. Done EKG. Is It Cause Of Concern?

Hi, I have PVC s and PAC s for about three years now. Structurally normal heart and no other health problems. Holter EKG a year ago recorded a little over 3.000 PVC s and about 500 PAC s. I m taking sotalol (2X40 mg) for about a year. At first it worked great, but the last couple of months PVC s are back. Sometimes they go away for a couple of weeks and then they return really strong. The thing that worries me is that i used to have them mostly when resting or before bed and now I have them most of the time during any kind of physical activity - is there a reason to be concerned about this? And what do you think about sotalol as therapy for pvc s? Thanks a lot.

HI,

I read your query and would like to say that if your heart is normal (in ECG, ECHO and TMT) than don't worry, because the PVC and PAC are benign arrhythmia.

Sotalol is a good choise for this arrhythmia. The concern is if this bother you than you have to change sotalol with another drug.

If I was your doctor i would choose amiodarone or propafenon.

Hope I answered your query?
